Bridezilla Stare-Down
Starring: Kate Hudson/Anne Hathaway
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: January 9, 2009
This movie wasn’t something I would have normally chosen to see due to the fact that I am not a huge chick-flick fan. I typically tend to enjoy almost any other type of film other than chick-flicks or romance movies. But this one wasn’t a total waste and I have to admit that it had a few good laughs in it.
This movie was a far cry from the recent indie flick of Hathaway’s, Rachael Getting Married where her acting abilities really shined but I’m sure it was a lot of fun to make and at least I didn’t get that nauseating feeling from all the girly tender moments.
I did find however that perhaps I am somewhat rare in the fact that as a little girl I didn’t envision my wedding day with pure excitement. In fact I didn’t really envision my wedding day at all but I felt a little out of place in the theater with so many other women who most likely did. And I can’t say that this movie made me any more excited about that big day either. It was kind of like watching that nightmarish show Bridezilla but on a much bigger screen with 20 teenager’s texting in the front row.
I would have to say for me this was more of a dark comedy than anything due to the fact that it didn’t really make the idea of getting married or weddings seem like something a person would look forward to. I did get a few ideas of what not to do though if that day ever comes.
Bottom Line: NOT BAD FOR A CHICK FLICK
